Skye Canyon's Holiday Season Runs on Thursdays, and the Clock Change Moves the Market's Hours

Skye Canyon's last big Saturday festival of 2026 was on the calendar for last weekend. The 10th annual Chalk & Cheers was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, with a chalk-art contest, a pumpkin patch, food trucks and stage performances. After that date, the next big Saturday events on the community's event pages don't come until spring. Fit Fest is listed for Saturday, March 6, 2027. Skye & Stars was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

From here to the end of the year, the dates that matter all fall on Thursdays. The weekly farmers market, the community's first Trunk or Treat and Pray for Snow all land on that day, and all of them happen within a few steps of Skye Center on West Skye Canyon Park Drive. Partway through the stretch, Sunday's time change moves the market's closing time earlier.

Tonight is the last long Thursday

Thursday, Oct. 29, is the first time two of the community's regular events overlap. Skye Canyon's Trunk or Treat runs from 4 to 7 PM in the Skye Center parking lot, and the event page calls it the inaugural one. The Fresh52 Farmers & Artisan Market runs alongside it from 2 to 8 PM.

The trunks come from neighbors and local businesses. The event page lists trunk hosting as free. Hosts decorate a vehicle around a Halloween theme, stock up on candy and sign up to reserve a spot, and registered hosts get arrival and parking details before the event. Residents and businesses were both invited to host.

The 8 PM close matters because tonight is the last time the market keeps it. Skye Canyon's farmers market page lists 2 to 8 PM every Thursday from Sept. 3 through Oct. 29. On those hours, a family can finish the trick-or-treating at 7 and still have an hour to shop at a market of more than 25 local vendors selling produce, cottage foods, baked goods, artisan goods and food-truck meals.

Halloween itself falls on Saturday this year, two days after the Trunk or Treat. That leaves a Thursday evening for the community event and the weekend for the street. Skye Canyon also runs Haunt Your House, a Halloween decorating contest for residents in good standing with the Community Association. Judges score originality and creativity, including design, yard placement and lighting, as well as the quality and detail of an overall theme or storyline. Entries are submitted with a photo, and the prizes are Amazon gift cards of $250, $150 and $100 for the top three. The contest page doesn't list 2026 deadlines, so check it before you build anything elaborate.

Sunday's clock change sets the winter hours

Daylight saving time ends at 2 AM on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, when clocks fall back to 1 AM, according to timeanddate.com. Four days later the market changes to match. From Nov. 5, Skye Canyon lists the Thursday hours as 2 to 6:30 PM.

That is an hour and a half off the evening end. The 2 PM start doesn't move, so the cut falls on the late visit made after work or after school pickup. An 8 PM close leaves room for a slow walk through the vendors after dinner. A 6:30 PM close works best for a stop on the way home.

The published hours don't all agree. Fresh52's own locations page lists the Skye Canyon market on Thursdays at 10111 W. Skye Canyon Park Dr. with "2026 Summer Hours: 4pm - 8pm." In July, 215 News also reported 4 to 8 PM summer hours. The community's page has the fall schedule above, which also appears on the Trunk or Treat page. If a vendor matters to you, confirm the time on the day before you go.

The location is listed two ways as well. Skye Canyon places the market in the lower parking lot of Skye Fitness. Fresh52 lists it at Skye Canyon Park. Both point to the same place. Skye Center is at 10111 W. Skye Canyon Park Drive, Skye Fitness is next door at 10115, and the 15-acre Skye Canyon Park sits right beside both.

The dates between now and Dec. 10

With the hours set, the rest of the season looks like this:

  1. Thursday, Oct. 29. Trunk or Treat, 4 to 7 PM, Skye Center lot. The market is open 2 to 8 PM for the last time this year.
  2. Sunday, Nov. 1. Clocks fall back at 2 AM.
  3. Thursday, Nov. 5. First market on winter hours, 2 to 6:30 PM.
  4. Monday, Nov. 16. Toy donation bins for Operation Warm Heart go out at Skye Fitness and Aspire Coffee House.
  5. Thursday, Dec. 10. Pray for Snow, 3:30 to 7:30 PM. It's also the last day for the toy bins.

Every Thursday in between keeps the 2 to 6:30 PM market. Only one date breaks the routine, and the community planned that one on a Thursday too.

Dec. 10 builds the holiday event around the market

Pray for Snow is set for Thursday, Dec. 10, 2026, from 3:30 to 7:30 PM. Instead of moving the holiday party to a weekend, Skye Canyon put it on the market day. The event page lists shopping at the farmers market, "filled with seasonal goodies and treats," as part of the afternoon. The page doesn't say whether the market keeps its 6:30 PM close that day.

Some of the evening costs money and some is free:

What Cost Includes
Photo pass, resident $10 Hot chocolate, a printed photo with Santa, digital photos with Snoopy and Santa's car
Photo pass, resident guest $20 Same as the resident pass
Polar Express train ride $5 per ticket A ride through the winter wonderland setup
Complimentary activities Free Holiday craft, s'mores pit, letters to Santa, Santa's Bounce House

The guest price is double the resident price, so if relatives are visiting that week, they will each need a $20 pass. The event page has an RSVP link.

The toy bins put two everyday stops on the calendar

From Nov. 16 through Dec. 10, donation bins for new, unused toys will sit inside Skye Fitness and Aspire Coffee House. Volunteers will also collect toys at the event itself. Operation Warm Heart is a nonprofit that provides financial help to Airmen and families stationed at Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases. Its holiday toy drive runs through an Adopt-A-Family program, and money raised at Pray for Snow goes to the group's work with the Nellis and Creech military community. That includes help with personal hardships and family emergencies that other Air Force programs don't cover.

The bins are in places many people already pass. Aspire Coffee House opened inside Skye Center in 2021, so it shares the 10111 address with the Trunk or Treat lot. Skye Fitness is next door. You can drop off a toy during a regular coffee stop or workout on any day over the bins' nearly four weeks, not only on Thursdays.

What fills the rest of the week at the park

On other days, Skye Canyon Park carries more of the load than it did a year ago. In July, 215 News reported that the park had added six pickleball courts, a full-size roller hockey rink and dog parks, and that the new amenities were getting plenty of use. The same report described evenings at the park with dogs at the small-dog park, plus families playing soccer and pickleball. The courts, the rink and the dog parks are all part of the same block as the market and Skye Center, so a Thursday visit can combine shopping with a game or a dog walk.

Once the lights go up, the community also runs a holiday decorating contest, Making Spirits Bright, and the contest page already shows last year's 2025 winners. A 2026 deadline hasn't been posted yet, so check the page before December.
