For years, a full weekend in Southern Highlands meant one meal in the community and a drive out to Henderson or the Strip for anything else. The retail ring was fine, but thin. Two grocery-anchored plazas, a French café, a reliable Italian, a noodle counter, and after that the map ran out.
That math shifted in February 2026, and it is worth walking through what the shift actually looks like across a Friday evening, a Saturday, and a Sunday morning.
What changed in February
The specific event was the opening of Tuscan Cove Bar & Patio inside the Tuscan Highlands community at 12656 Southern Highlands Parkway. It is a partnership between Steven Kennedy of All In Hospitality and Executive Chef Ricardo Romo, the veteran Las Vegas chef behind Roma Kitchen and Chef's Roma Kitchen, with Kennedy running the room and the bar program and Chef Romo leading the kitchen. The kitchen leans into stone-fired pizza, burgers, craft cocktails, and Sunday brunch, with daily happy hour from 4 to 6 PM and a patio built for lingering.
Two details matter for residents. First, the room is open to the public, with gate code 418 at the call box, so a Friday reservation does not require living inside Tuscan Highlands. Second, Chef Romo is the same operator behind Roma Kitchen at Southern Highlands Marketplace. The community now has two rooms from the same kitchen lineage without duplicating a menu, which is the kind of small structural fact that quietly changes how residents plan a week.
Friday, the after-work reset
The Marketplace at 10630 Southern Highlands Parkway is still the practical center of gravity. Smith's Food & Drug anchors it with a bakery, deli, pharmacy, and fuel; other tenants include Ace Hardware and New Balance; services range from Great Clips to Southern Highlands Realty; and dining options include Dragon Tiger Noodle Co., Hola Mexican Cocina + Cantina, and Spaghetty Western. It is the place you already know.
What is new is that a resident now has a real choice on a Friday night. The Marketplace covers the fast turn. Tuscan Cove five minutes south covers the sit-down. And the Le Café du Sud building at 11350 Southern Highlands Parkway keeps a French breakfast rotation on the calendar for the morning after. That building is worth mapping in your head, because the address at 11350 Southern Highlands Pkwy Suite 155 sits in a building that also houses Kidz Kidz Kidz Preschool & Early Development Center, Highlands Nail & Spa, and Capriotti's Sandwich Shop. Saturday morning, at the Corporate Center
The weekend farmers market runs at the Southern Highlands Corporate Center at 11411 Southern Highlands Parkway. It is a Las Vegas Farmers Market partnership, and dates recur through the season; the current cycle has the Southern Highlands market listed for June 27, 2026 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. If you have been away for a summer, the point is that the timing is early enough to beat the heat and land you back at home before noon.
The Corporate Center is the same location the HOA uses for its Free Shredding and Donation Event, held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday alongside the Fall Yard Sale. Treat it as the community's civic square rather than just an office park. Most of the calendar routes through it or through Goett Family Park a few blocks south.
Saturday evening, four rooms and how to pick
Here is the useful frame. The community's sit-down rotation is now four rooms with distinct roles, not four rooms competing for the same reservation.

The larger charitable machinery behind those events runs through the Olympia Companies SH Charitable Foundation, and it is worth understanding at least once. Annual events including the Governor's Black-Tie Invitational, the Southern Highlands Fall Festival, and the Southern Highlands Memorial Day BBQ have raised over $27 million for various charities and beneficiaries. That number is the reason those events keep their production value year over year.
For families with older kids, the Boys and Girls Club is the anchor on the north side of the parkway. Southern Highlands Boys and Girls Club opened in 2014, operates year-round after-school and summer programs for ages 6 to 18, sits on Southern Highlands Parkway at Shinnecock Hills Avenue, and includes a learning center with computer lab, an art studio, a teen center with its own media center, and a regulation-sized gymnasium. Sunday afternoons in the summer, that gym is the reason a lot of parents get an hour back.
When the ring outside the gates is the right answer
Some nights the community itself is not the answer, and the right move is the ring immediately outside it. Two names to keep on the short list.
Distill Southern Highlands sits near Cactus and Decatur and is the tavern-style option when a Marketplace room is too polished for the mood. Reviews consistently frame it as a level up from the standard neighborhood pub, with the food doing more work than the format suggests.
In Cactus Marketplace, the plaza directly across Cactus Avenue to the north of the Marketplace, New Day Cafe has relocated from its Silverado Ranch Boulevard location, with another New Day at 284 Bicentennial Parkway in Henderson. That gives residents a second breakfast option a mile from Le Café du Sud, which is useful when the café is crowded on a Sunday morning.
Both are inside a five-minute drive. Neither requires the freeway.
The one number worth remembering
The Marketplace has always presented itself as convenient. What has changed is the density. The Cove Club's own framing captures it, and it is a fair summary of the market position: the focus is to take care of regulars, keep food and drinks consistent, and make the patio feel like the neighborhood spot guests want it to be. That sentence would have sounded aspirational in 2023. In 2026 it maps to an actual room, on an actual parkway, with a gate code.
For a resident, the practical takeaway is that the case for staying inside the community on a weekend has quietly gotten stronger. A Friday reservation, a Saturday market and dinner, a Sunday brunch and park event; the entire arc can now sit inside a two-mile radius. Southern Highlands has always sold itself on being fifteen minutes from the Strip. The interesting change is that fifteen minutes is no longer the point.
